Finding Outgaris, a Font for a Standout Brand Identity

I was staring at a proof for my new candle labels, and something was just… missing. My new scent was fantastic, the photography was lovely, but the name on the label looked like everything else out there. It was clean and safe, but it didn’t whisper the personality of my little handmade brand. I needed something that felt more like me—a bit artistic, a little quirky, but still professional. That’s when I started playing with Outgaris.

The Distinctive Personality of Outgaris

Outgaris isn’t your average script font. At first glance, it has that flowing, connected feel you expect from a script typeface, but then you notice its character. The letterforms have these quirky twists and unexpected turns that give it a wonderfully eccentric vibe. It’s not overly ornate or vintage; there’s a definite modern touch to its structure. The overall mood is striking and attention-grabbing, but it manages to feel sophisticated, not chaotic.

In practice, this personality translates into a font that can convey creativity, artisan quality, and a bit of playful confidence. For my candle label, the word “Midnight Moss” written in Outgaris suddenly felt mysterious and crafted, not just typed. It gave the product an identity before a customer even read the description.

Real-World Applications for Your Business Materials

Once I saw its potential on that label, I started testing Outgaris across other customer-facing touchpoints. The key was using it strategically, not everywhere.

Logo & Primary Brand Mark: This is where Outgaris shines brightest. Its unique style makes for a memorable logo that stands out without needing complex imagery. For a boutique, bakery, or beauty brand, using Outgaris for the business name alone can create a strong, recognizable mark.

Packaging & Product Labels: As I discovered, it’s perfect for highlighting product names or a key slogan on packaging. On a bakery box, a café’s signature drink name on a menu, or a skincare serum bottle, Outgaris adds a premium, designed feel that generic fonts lack.

Short-Form Marketing Graphics: It excels in spaces meant for quick, visual impact. I used it for my Instagram story templates announcing new products, on a thank-you card insert (“Thank You for Your Order”), and for a simple website banner headline. It draws the eye and makes that piece of content feel special.

Accents & Supporting Elements: While it’s primarily a display font, its shorter words or even single initials can work beautifully as decorative accents on business cards, tags, or flyers, paired with a more readable font for the details.

Readability and Best Use Advice

Because of its detailed and unconventional letterforms, Outgaris is best used for headlines, logos, product titles, and short phrases—not for long paragraphs or body text. On small labels, ensure the text is large enough so the intricate details don’t get lost. On mobile screens, use it for bold, swipe-stopping headlines in social media graphics, but keep the size generous. For printed items like packaging, it looks fantastic in product mockups, as the physical texture often enhances its artistic feel.

The rule of thumb: let Outgaris be the star of the show for your most important words, then support it with a clearer font for everything else.

Building Consistency and Trust Through Typography

This is where a font like Outgaris moves beyond being “pretty” and becomes a genuine business asset. Typography is a silent ambassador for your brand. When a customer sees your logo on Instagram, then your product label on their shelf, and then your thank-you card in their mail, and all use the same distinctive typography, a powerful thing happens.

They begin to recognize you instantly, without even seeing your full logo. That visual consistency builds trust; it signals that you are polished, intentional, and professional. It makes your small business feel established and reliable. Outgaris, with its memorable style, accelerates this process. Its uniqueness makes that consistent application even more sticky in a customer’s memory.

Simple and Effective Font Pairings

To make Outgaris work in real materials, you need to pair it wisely. Its eccentric flair needs a calm, readable counterpart. My go-to approach is to pair it with a very clean, neutral sans serif font for all body text, descriptions, and details. Think of fonts used for your address, ingredients list, pricing, or blog post text. This creates a beautiful hierarchy: Outgaris shouts the important thing, and the sans serif quietly informs.

For a more elegant, editorial feel, pairing it with a simple serif font can also work wonderfully, especially for brands in beauty, coffee, or stationery. Avoid pairing it with another loud script or handwritten font; that creates competition and visual noise. Let Outgaris be the sole personality piece.

A Note on Licensing and Technical Details

Before you commit to using any font like Outgaris on physical products or client work, always check its commercial license. You need to ensure you have the rights to use it on merchandise, packaging, and digital downloads you sell. Typically, when purchasing a font, look for licensing that covers “commercial use” and “print on demand.”

Also, explore what the font file includes. Does Outgaris offer alternate characters or ligatures that can give you even more customization? Are there multiple weights? Checking these details allows you to use the font to its full potential, ensuring your bakery name or boutique logo can have that perfect, unique twist you envisioned.

Finding the right typeface is more than a design choice; it’s a branding decision. For my small business, Outgaris provided that missing piece—a voice for my brand that looks crafted, confident, and consistent across every touchpoint with my customers. It turned my good product into a product with a memorable story, told first through its name.
